Lindsay and Collin were wed at the beautiful Oregon Golf Club in West Linn, admittedly one of my all time favorite wedding venues. The rich, deep oranges and chocolate browns of the flowers and brides maids dresses reflected the warms and joy of the day. Laughter, happy tears, silly dancing, and sweet declarations of love from family and friends made this day extra sweet. Here’s to many happy years together for Lindsay and Collin!

These two sisters had me hopping and dancing about in this beautiful field, chasing them around in the beautiful angel wings their mama (a fellow photographer) brought along. Between giggle fits, I couldn’t get over the sweetness that these two share. They are so connected, so loving, so polite and so much fun!

Little B is six months old! He loves his mama and daddy so much and has a smile ready for them at the drop of a hat. It was not raining (a huge bonus) this October day in Vancouver, so after a few indoor shots, we decided to go play at the park to take advantage of the colorful leaves that still hang on the trees. One good windstorm and the trees around here will be nothing but sticks until Spring comes again. We laughed, B took a ride in his special little wagon that grandma gave him, and we got some joy-filled photos in the process. I love this session. I hope you enjoy it too!

Luke and Catherine :: Columbia River Gorge Wedding

Luke and Catherine met on their first day of classes in college. They were drawn to one another. Luke’s eyes are sparkling and his calm demeanor draws you in. Catherine has an easy smile and an infectious laugh. They are both ambitious, and fun loving, and their friends would tell you they are truly amazing people to have in their lives. It was my honor to photograph their wedding day, one warm, late afternoon along the Columbia River in The Gorge in a tiny town called Rowena, just outside The Dalles. The sun was golden, the breeze cool right off the water, and the wind surfers kept us all entertained as they whizzed up and back on the rippling water. Here’s just a taste of Luke and Catherine’s beautiful day!

This past week I had the honor of photographing Joy and Thomas’ wedding on the Hawaiian Island of Maui. Wailuku, Hawaii to be exact. Joy and Thomas actually live on the Island, so the festivities were based around Hawaiian traditions, family and local customs…..all of which I absolutely LOVE! First up was the cooking of a pig in an underground oven called and imu. An imu is essentially an underground steam cooker. The pig is laid on a wire rack that is covered in banana leaves, burlap, and more leaves. Rocks are put into the stomach cavity to cook the insides. The pig is then covered in more leaves and burlap and put down into the freshly prepared pit in the ground and covered with hot rocks. The pig cooked all night, and the groom was up, watching to be certain that the steam kept rising from the imu, to ensure that it was staying hot. In the morning, I was there to photograph them taking the pig out of the imu. The groom and his family were there to dig it up, carry it to the trough and slide it out of the wire rack. They then worked quickly, pulling out the bones and chopping it up to make the fresh kalua (or what we “haole’s” commonly call “pulled pork”). It was super cool to watch this!

Dylan; Camas Washington Class of 2012 Senior Portraits

Dylan is an all around, well-blanaced, good-head-on-his-shoulders, unassuming, nice guy. I enjoyed every minute of our senior portrait session. Dylan is a proud member of his high school’s baseball and football teams. Our hope was to go to the high school ball field (which we did) and then head over to the stadium for some shots on the 50 yard line. Well, wouldn’t you know it, we got there and the 8 foot chain link fence was locked. Hmmm….well, I’m not a girl who is easily thrown off track. You want photos on the 50 yard line where you always play ball? Ok then…. I kicked off my sandles and climbed over the 8 foot fence. Note: climbing chain link fencing in bare feet hurts your toes. Anyway, we got in, we did the photos and I’m happy I did it (even though I cannot say I endorse what I did, cause it was kinda breaking the rules and normally, I am quite the rule follower). HA! But, all’s well that ends well and no turf was hurt in the making of these photos.

Senior portraits are due in the early Fall! Don’t miss your opportunity to have your photos done while it’s still nice outside and before the hustle and bustle of back to school events kick in!

Beckett at 3 months; Portland Oregon Baby Photography

I am the lucky girl who gets to photograph sweet little Beckett every 3 months for his first year! Seriously….you’re just a smidge jealous, right? He kills me with cuteness every time I look into those big eyes and he bats his illegally long eyelashes. At 3 months old, the smiles just start to really come out and sometimes I can even get a coo or two from the little ones. I like to make the 3rd month photos about the family and the changes that have come about with the addition of this new little life. These sessions tend to be more “lifestyle” portraits, telling a story about life as it is with a new baby and after the newborn stage has really sunken in. Looks like Beckett’s family has adjusted very well. There were loads of little smiles, coos, and kisses. I can’t wait to go back for more this Fall!

Did you know I travel for weddings? Victor contacted me while I was in California shooting a wedding a couple weeks ago. The email went something like this: “I like your photography and would like to schedule a session the next time my girlfriend is in town.” Of course, my response was a resounding, “Thank you! I’d love to schedule a session with you. When would you like to book it for?” Next thing I knew, we were booking for the day I flew back in from Cali. HA! Amanda was evidently already in town and what better time than the present?! We took to some romantic fields in some wild Lupine blooms to capture the love that radiates from these two. They live on opposite coasts, but you couldn’t tell that for a second. They had their eyes locked on one another the whole session. Of course, I reminded them that I do travel for weddings. That is how our journey began after all, isn’t it?
