Lindsay and Collin were wed at the beautiful Oregon Golf Club in West Linn, admittedly one of my all time favorite wedding venues. The rich, deep oranges and chocolate browns of the flowers and brides maids dresses reflected the warms and joy of the day. Laughter, happy tears, silly dancing, and sweet declarations of love from family and friends made this day extra sweet. Here’s to many happy years together for Lindsay and Collin!

Lindsey and Matt have been together forever! They’d dated upwards of 7 years by the time their stunning wedding at The Oregon Golf Club took place in late August. The wedding day was picture perfect. Warm, but not sweltering, the venue was amazing (as always), and the bride and groom were relaxed, joyful and completely head over heels in love. They were surrounded by long time friends, the groom’s sister and the bride’s two brothers as their wedding party, who all did an excellent job at keeping everyone laughing and the energy ignited. From the energetic dancing, heart felt speeches, a toast from the groom’s little nephew, and a silly photo-bombing golfer who randomly jumped into the groomsmen’s photos, the day was fabulous from start to finish. Here are just a few of my favorites from Lindsey and Matt’s day.

Stephanie and Blake :: Portland Couple’s Photography

When Stephanie first contacted me about doing a 1st anniversary couple’s shoot, we talk about what she and her hubby of one year, Blake, like to do together. The first thing that came to mind were the leisurely mornings spent together at Starbucks sipping coffee or hot cocoa and reading the paper. So, of course we had to incorporate this into their shoot. We met in Portland’s Pearl District and walked around the city block, talking, laughing and stopping for a photo every now and then. Here are a few to share from their shoot. Happy 1 year and here’s to many more Stephanie and Blake!

Joy and Thomas are married (part 2-getting ready) :: Maui, Hawaii Destination Wedding Photography

Joy got ready at her sister Shannon’s house just minutes from where the guys were cooking the pig. After we finished photographing the removal of the pig from the imu (see earlier post here), we went to Shannon’s to capture the ladies getting all glamed up. It was a relaxed morning. Poor Joy had a migraine. After a massage and some caffeine, Joy escaped to Fierce Salon and Day Spa in Wailuku, HI to have her hair done. She chose a soft, curled style and was done in record time! The stylist there was amazing! After hair, it was time for makeup and dressing. Joy’s beautiful sisters helped her into her dress while friends slipped her shoes and jewelry on. It was a busy, but mellow morning. We caravaned to the church right afterwards, where Joy’s dad performed the ceremony that would bind her to Thomas for life. <3 But the ceremony photos will come in the next post. Stay tuned!

In Love {Battle Ground, WA Photographer}

Did you know I travel for weddings? Victor contacted me while I was in California shooting a wedding a couple weeks ago. The email went something like this: “I like your photography and would like to schedule a session the next time my girlfriend is in town.” Of course, my response was a resounding, “Thank you! I’d love to schedule a session with you. When would you like to book it for?” Next thing I knew, we were booking for the day I flew back in from Cali. HA! Amanda was evidently already in town and what better time than the present?! We took to some romantic fields in some wild Lupine blooms to capture the love that radiates from these two. They live on opposite coasts, but you couldn’t tell that for a second. They had their eyes locked on one another the whole session. Of course, I reminded them that I do travel for weddings. That is how our journey began after all, isn’t it?

Amy and David, Battle Ground Washington Wedding Photography

Amy and Dave were introduced through mutual friends. They laugh a lot, take adventures and, on their wedding day, were surrounded by loving family and friends. The few days leading up to the wedding were a bit touch and go stress-wise. David, having flown in from Ottawa Canada had picked up some sort of flu bug on the plane and was puking his guts out for a while. He didn’t eat anything for the three days leading up to the wedding and was feeling rather puny from it. On the eve of the wedding day, Amy too started to feel queasy. “This is it,” she thought. “My wedding day is just going to be one big puke fest.” Then she began the process of planning out where to position buckets throughout the cermony and reception in order to just make it through the day. The thought of postponing becoming David’s wife never crossed her mind. Needless to say, the “for better or for worse” part of the vows got a chuckle from the crowd.

The wedding day was perfect. The rain that had poured for 21 straight days paused for the day and we got some sunshine, the pink cherry blossoms bloomed and we were able to do outdoor portraits (even though it was chilly). The sun was shining on this sweet couple that day. Here’s to many more days of “better” and very few of “worse”.

Erica & Bobby, Battle Ground, Washington Wedding Photography

When I first met Erica and Bobby, my first impression was that they love to smile and laugh with each other. It makes those around them feel comfortable. Erica’s infectious laugh and beautiful smile is spurred on by Bobby’s quick wit and dry humor. For their engagement session, we stayed close to home, taking full advantage of the beauty that can be found in Battle Ground, WA. We visited Battle Ground Lake State Park and then hit up some location jewels on Main Street. I had so much fun and I cannot wait to capture their wedding coming up in 6 short weeks!

Lindsey and Matt have been together for 6 years. SIX YEARS! That’s astounding in these times of quickie marts and fast food. They’re in it forever. The love they feel for one another is quiet, joyful and comfortable. Our session was relaxed, and they were openly trusting of my ideas (I LOVE that!). We were lucky to avoid the rain showers that spurted down shortly after we wrapped up, and even saw some blue skies and warm sun. It was truly a delightful day. I am lucky enough to get to shoot Lindsey and Matt’s wedding late this summer! For now, here are some of my favorites from our time together today!

Emily and Mike were wed on the most perfect November day. The sun came out and set the fall colors on fire and lit up the white marble of the Portland Temple, making it nearly glow.
