I have had the honor of photographing this family through two new additions to their family! It is amazingly special to me to be trusted to capture moments of laughter, silliness and love through different phases of a family. Plus, I get to see how big the kids have gotten, and that is just plain cool to witness!

Lindsey and Matt :: The Oregon Golf Club :: Portland Oregon Wedding Photographer

Lindsey and Matt have been together forever! They’d dated upwards of 7 years by the time their stunning wedding at The Oregon Golf Club took place in late August. The wedding day was picture perfect. Warm, but not sweltering, the venue was amazing (as always), and the bride and groom were relaxed, joyful and completely head over heels in love. They were surrounded by long time friends, the groom’s sister and the bride’s two brothers as their wedding party, who all did an excellent job at keeping everyone laughing and the energy ignited. From the energetic dancing, heart felt speeches, a toast from the groom’s little nephew, and a silly photo-bombing golfer who randomly jumped into the groomsmen’s photos, the day was fabulous from start to finish. Here are just a few of my favorites from Lindsey and Matt’s day.

Did you know I travel for weddings? Victor contacted me while I was in California shooting a wedding a couple weeks ago. The email went something like this: “I like your photography and would like to schedule a session the next time my girlfriend is in town.” Of course, my response was a resounding, “Thank you! I’d love to schedule a session with you. When would you like to book it for?” Next thing I knew, we were booking for the day I flew back in from Cali. HA! Amanda was evidently already in town and what better time than the present?! We took to some romantic fields in some wild Lupine blooms to capture the love that radiates from these two. They live on opposite coasts, but you couldn’t tell that for a second. They had their eyes locked on one another the whole session. Of course, I reminded them that I do travel for weddings. That is how our journey began after all, isn’t it?

Amy and David, Battle Ground Washington Wedding Photography

Amy and Dave were introduced through mutual friends. They laugh a lot, take adventures and, on their wedding day, were surrounded by loving family and friends. The few days leading up to the wedding were a bit touch and go stress-wise. David, having flown in from Ottawa Canada had picked up some sort of flu bug on the plane and was puking his guts out for a while. He didn’t eat anything for the three days leading up to the wedding and was feeling rather puny from it. On the eve of the wedding day, Amy too started to feel queasy. “This is it,” she thought. “My wedding day is just going to be one big puke fest.” Then she began the process of planning out where to position buckets throughout the cermony and reception in order to just make it through the day. The thought of postponing becoming David’s wife never crossed her mind. Needless to say, the “for better or for worse” part of the vows got a chuckle from the crowd.

The wedding day was perfect. The rain that had poured for 21 straight days paused for the day and we got some sunshine, the pink cherry blossoms bloomed and we were able to do outdoor portraits (even though it was chilly). The sun was shining on this sweet couple that day. Here’s to many more days of “better” and very few of “worse”.

Erica & Bobby, Battle Ground, Washington Wedding Photography

When I first met Erica and Bobby, my first impression was that they love to smile and laugh with each other. It makes those around them feel comfortable. Erica’s infectious laugh and beautiful smile is spurred on by Bobby’s quick wit and dry humor. For their engagement session, we stayed close to home, taking full advantage of the beauty that can be found in Battle Ground, WA. We visited Battle Ground Lake State Park and then hit up some location jewels on Main Street. I had so much fun and I cannot wait to capture their wedding coming up in 6 short weeks!

Emily and Mike were wed on the most perfect November day. The sun came out and set the fall colors on fire and lit up the white marble of the Portland Temple, making it nearly glow. Emily and Mike were surrounded by friends and family who were so supportive and happy for them. It was a glorious day. Here are just a couple of my favorites to share!

He was only planning on staying a year. It was January when he came to the Northwest, wearing shorts and flip flops. Needless to say, the move what a huge adjustment, but he was only supposed to be here one year. That is, until he met her. Three years later, and many warmer outfit choices later, they’re getting married. We spent one Fall afternoon at Kruger’s Farm on Sauvie Island capturing their connection. It was my pleasure and I look forward to their wedding next summer.

You can’t help but smile around the H family. Clearly, they bring the fun wherever they go. Baby O is following in mom and dad’s happy footsteps it seems. He was full of smiles for us during our mini session in Portland’s Pearl District.

Carly and Craig :: Seattle, Washington Engagement Session

Carly and Craig’s wedding will no doubt be one of my favorite’s of the summer next year. They are so filled with love and respect for one another as individuals that the bond they share as a couple is undeniably heartwarming. When they asked if I’d be willing to come up to Seattle to do their engagement photos, I was beyond thrilled! The view from Kerry Park and the bustle of Pike’s Market was amazing that day! Congratulations to Carly and Craig and may your wedding planning be smooth!

Adam & Mary Ann, Married! Benson Hotel Wedding, Portland Oregon Wedding Photography

It started when Adam came to work at GI Joes, a sporting goods store in the area. Coy glances, flirtatious giggles, polite hellos. It didn’t last long though because Mary Ann accepted a job somewhere else, and Adam deployed as a real “GI JOE” with the US Army. As it goes in most fairy tales though, fate could not be thwarted and they were brought back into contact. This time there was no denying their attraction.

They were wed this past September 3, 2010 at the historic Benson Hotel in Downtown Portland Oregon in an elegant and traditionally beautiful ceremony and celebrated into the night surrounded by family and close friends. The bride was radient with her hair pulled back and smoothed into perfectly round pin curls in the back, secured by jeweled hairpins. The groom was dashing in his tuxedo with silvery blue details. The Benson’s Cambridge room was gracefully refined in all white linens with black sashes. It was an extraordinary day for two extraordinary people. Congratulations to the bride and groom and best wishes for a marriage as loving and warm as the wedding.
