Brooke is delightful…plain and simple. She’s zestful about life, has a contagious smile and life and makes you feel good when you’re around her. I’m thankful she asked me to come to The Dalles to do her senior portraits. I had a blast! Congratulations on your senior year!

Caroline’s session in The Dalles was exciting to say the least! When we first arrived at her house, her mom told us that we’d be going down the road to a large plot of land that is home to some horses set out to pasture. The horses don’t get a lot of human contact that anyone knows of, so when people go have been on the land, the horses have acted a bit aggressive. Not to worry though, because Caroline’s mom was coming with us and she was bringing the whips to protect us. Me, being the wild outdoors woman I am (ha ha), wasn’t the least bit nervous (yeah, right). Sure enough, as soon as we started the trek down to the abandoned house and barn on the property where we hoped to shoot, one of the horses spotted us. Quickly all the horse were alerted to our presence and they came running. Caroline’s mom kept us safe by yelling at the horses to stop. It was pretty awesome to witness. We shot between some rain showers inside the old abandoned farm house complete with collapsing roof and torn floorboards. Then we headed over to the old barn, erected on stacked up rocks forming a makeshift foundation, and held together by thick wooden nails. A perfectly beautiful rustic location and a photographer’s dream. Caroline’s smile shone brightly throughout the rain showers that passed in and out during our session and at the end, she even tamed the wild beasts! I thought a shot of her with the horses in the backdrop would be beautiful, and she went so far as to reach her hand out to them and stand right next to them. It was amazing. Congrats to Caroline and the rest of the 2011 Senior class!

Brandon is a senior this year. He met me the way most senior guys do – with a look of trepidation and worried thoughts that our session is going to take forever. I would have been worried too though. He had just injured his knee at school early in the day and was headed for an MRI in the evening to assess the damage. OUCH! He was relieved when we breezed through our photo session painlessly and even said it was fun! Senior portraits are due very soon! If you’re a senior this year and need a portrait for your yearbook photo, call soon! I promise your session will be painless and maybe even a smidge fun!

PS….I LOVE that she brought all sorts of different outfits and accessories and shoes for our shoot today! I was giddy seeing all of the different arrangements she and her uber-fun mom had put together.

I’ve been so lucky to get to meet and photograph so many high school seniors this year! Tonight was no exception. Congratulations on your senior year, M! And best of luck with your plans for after school.

High Aspirations

Wow is this guy tall! He’s hoping for a basketball scholarship and then it’s on to college to persue a law degree. High aspirations for sure, but with his great attitude and some good ‘ol dicipline (which I could tell he has even though we just met today), I’m betting he’ll do just what he sets his mind to. And, does anyone else notice that he looks a LOT like the actor Ryan Gosling? Somehow, I think he’s heard that comparison once or twice before.
