9 day old baby Rocco was a dream to photograph. He slept the entire session, was totally moveable and moldable and didn’t poop on me at all.
It’s always such a smoother experience the closer to birth newborn sessions are scheduled. Parents that are hoping to capture that newborn curly, sleepy baby should plan to have portraits done within the first two weeks of birth. After that, babies start to stretch out, are more wakeful and are starting to develop a startle reflex and are far less flexible and sleepy. The true “newborn” phase is so fleeting. Capture it! You’ll miss it when it’s gone.
