As your photographer, my ultimate goal is to draw out your story, your personality, your individuality and true emotion. I am not a traditional studio photographer, but rather choose to take a more photojournalistic approach to children and family portraiture, capturing you in the moment - laughing, loving and interacting just as you do every day. I prefer to stand back and capture life as it happens. A session with me is never rushed, never uncomfortable, never about seeking a "cheese-face" grin. Ashley and Will were married at the historic Viewpoint Inn in Corbett, Oregon in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge over the weekend. The ceremony was touching, the family warm and welcoming and the location was astonishingly beautiful, as was the bride herself in her designer gown. Thank you to Jenifer of Jenifer Johnston Photography for having me along for this glorious event.

Katrina and Nate celebrated their wedding in front of family and friends at the glorious McMenamin’s Edgefield in Troutdale, Oregon. You may recall their vintage amusement park engagement session we did several months ago. Their cermony took place in Blackberry Meadow under an arching green leafy tree as the sun set over the vineyards. It was a beautiful day.

Jessica and James are obviously so happily in love! Their engagement shoot was pretty quick since we were being eaten alive by mosquitos at the park, but we had fun despite the nagging bugs! I feel so lucky to get to photograph their wedding this coming Fall! I’m sure it will be an event filled with happiness and laughter.

This family is so warm and friendly. Just meeting them, you will feel as though you’ve known them forever. We braved the mosquitos a few nights ago for some gorgeous evening light family photos.

Brooke is my senior rep for the class of 2011. Earlier we did her portrait session and this go around, we focused on her dancing. She’s a phenomenal dancer with such grace. It was stunningly beautiful to watch her dancing out in the golden sunlight at sunset. Here are a few of my favorites so far!

I love shooting other photographers and their family and tonight was no exception. Emily is the uber rad photographer behind Emily G Photography. When I mentioned I was wanting to do a fun superman themed love story shoot, she was quick to jump on the bandwagon. She even got herself some Betty Paige style bangs to fit the theme! I had so much fun telling the story of Clark Kent and Lois Lane falling in love all over again. It was my pleasure to be able to do this for you two. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!

I was itching to try out my newest prop addition (the pedal car) and knew just the kiddo to test it out for me. He brought along his super cool siblings too!

These four cuties are here visiting family. It was the perfect opportunity to get photos of everyone together. Here’s a quick one from our whole family session. I just love their bright eyes and the colors mom chose for them. Hope the rest of your vacation is fantastic!

Little G was just six days new for his newborn photoshoot. His legs were still curly and he was so sweetly sleepy throughout all of our posing and moving of his tiny self. He was a pro and we were able to get his session complete in less than an hour! That’s unheard of! Congratulations again to G’s mom and dad. He is simply precious!

Jessica and Daniel celebrated their vows over fourth of July weekend at a family vineyard in Petaluma, CA. It was my honor to be able to share their day with them. The skies were perfectly blue, and the couple so obviously commmitted to one another. It was an amazing experience! Jessica and Daniel opted to have me fly out to CA rather than hire someone already residing in the area. It’s a smart choice and something to consider if you’re going to be married in an area where photography services perhaps are a bit more spendy. The moral of the stroy is, find a photographer you love and then see if it would be in your budget to fly them to your wedding destination. It may save you some money in the end.
I was accompanied by the lovely and talented Jenifer of Jenifer Johnston Photography. Some of the photos below are her stunning work.
Now on to the photos!
The day began with Jessica and Daniel’s first look at Saint Vincent du Paul’s Catholic Church in Petaluma, CA. This was the moment Daniel first got to see his glowing bride in her gorgeous wedding gown. I am always excited when couples choose to see one another prior to the ceremony and have a little private “first look” moment. It feels special and intimate and allows them time to calm any nerves they may be having.
The next stop was the Petaluma Visitor’s Center with it’s perfect arches letting in the most phenomenal light!
Right outside the Visitors Center are some old abandoned train cars. Jessica didn’t even question our sanity when we asked her to climb up onto the dirty caboose. I think the images prove that a stunning portrait doesn’t always have to take place at a pristine location. Jess and Dan, you ROCKED it!
Next stop was the actual wedding site; a family plot of land out in the hills of Petaluma featuring plenty of weather worn out buildings, barns, tall golden grasses, cows, curly trees, and a vineyard!

The wedding party was comprised of family and close friends. Eveyone was so welcoming and fun and GORGEOUS!
Daniel is a Ranger in the US Army and a bunch of his buddies were able to make it to celebrate with the happy couple.
The ceremony was perfect and intimate.
There was a live band at the reception and everyone danced the night away. We even were treated to a heartfelt rendition of “God Bless America” sung by the military guys!
Finally, as the sun crept closer to setting, we snuck away for a few shots in the vineyard way up in the hills.
As we were driving away, I couldn’t resist a snap of this dairy cow, quietly munching on grass at the top of a hill. What a perfect evening.
